The story of Ana Zaragozá

I graduated in Fine Arts by the Universidad Complutense de Madrid in 1990, after my graduation as a ceramist at the Escuela Oficial de Cerámica Francisco Alcántara de Madrid in 1987.

I got a scholarship by the Instituto de Estudios Zamoranos Florián de Ocampo para las Artes Plásticas in 1998 and by the Facultad de Bellas Artes de Madrid in the Painting Department (Landscape) with the Ayllón scholarship in the 1990 course.

In my pictorial career I have made numerous exhibitions in prestigious art galleries since the beginning of the 1980s. I have also participated in painting biennials and cultural events, both national and international, promoted by public and private institutions.

In 1997 I created my own firm, Ana Zaragoza, of silk painting and moved to live to Lago de Sanabria where I transformed an old farmhouse into a painting workshop, where I lived and worked for 12 years. During this stage, my first jobs in silk fit fluidly in the market getting a quick acceptance.

My silk scarfs were sold in the Guggenheim Bilbao Museum, the Contemporary Art Museum of Barcelona, the Es Baluard Museum of Palma de Mallorca, the Patio Herreriano de Arte Contemporáneo Español Museum of Valladolid, the Traje de Madrid Museum and in the Casa Batlló de Barcelona; I made collections for the Orient Express chain (Hotel Ritz), for the designer Lorenzo Caprile and for printers from Milan; likewise, my silk scarfs were acquired as an institutional gift for Queen Letizia, then Princess of Asturias, and also for the Infanta Cristina.

After this stage, in 2010, I moved to Zamora to create a new workshop-studio and showroom, space from where I work to the present.

The small artisanal and family business that I manage has worked hard to maintain the high level of quality in all the products I sell scarfs, umbrellas and folding fans, without them losing the soul, personality and pictorial sensitivity of my beginnings.

The brand value of Ana Zaragoza’s firm has been growing during these years in parallel with the idea of luxury and art product. My silk work goes beyond the idea of craftsmanship and design.

This last stage has been characterized by the expansion of the firm both in the national and international market through the presence in trade fairs and the annual launch of different collections produced in Italy. These are distributed in prestigious outlets of the fashion sector and Internet.

My last collaborations have been for the Art Nouveau Museum and Art Deco Casa Lis de Salamanca and for the Opera Concert Company for which I have created customized collections.
